Video: Bob Dylan- Duquesne Whistle

I always thought that Bob Dylan was one of those iconic artists that you pretty much had to love. Just like The Beatles or Led Zeppelin, they are virtually loved by everyone. And while Bob Dylan is definitely an iconic artist, I’m starting to realize through the mist and the haze I have around my Bobby D, that this same “love” for other artists is missing from him. People have respect for Bob Dylan, as they would any other great artist. But when I ask people if they like Bob Dylan, more and more, the responses are, “No, never been a Bob Dylan fan..”. Seriously? This absolutely blows my mind. I consider Bob Dylan to be the greatest lyricist of all time. And a lot of people would agree with me on that. So where did he go wrong? My opinion; his voice. His voice is something that people will always argue if it’s good or not. Now at age 71, it’s clearly struggling. Even in his younger years, people were still not found of his nasally, unrefined voice. And that’s fine, it’s a somewhat good argument.. I happen to love musicians vocals better when it’s not just your standard nice sounding voice. I like some edge, some feel, something that makes them different. So maybe that’s why I have such a soft spot for Mr. Dylan.. who knows?

Either way, I FUCKING LOVE BOB DYLAN. He can do absolutely no wrong in my book. His voice has gone to complete shit yet is effectively works with his age and the music he puts out. It’s weathered, but what 71-year-old who’s lived the kind of life that he has doesn’t? He is an icon, so is his music, and most definitely so are his lyrics.

Just watch this video from his latest single off of “Tempest” with him strutting around the streets, not singing, just fucking strutting. Bob Dylan is badass. And that’s all there is to it. End of discussion.
